Drive Thru Australia Part 2 – Surf Movie Review
Drive Thru Australia Part 2
14 Day Productions and Koastal Media present the next installment of the Drive Thru series, returning to Australia with the biggest cast of names yet. Directed and edited by Greg Browning, produced by Taylor Steele. Support from BodyGove, Billabong, Volcom, Hurley, and Fuel TV.
Length: 58 minutes
14 Day Productions spared no expense at making this film epic. Filming, editing and post production is all-time. The all-star cast of surfers doesn’t hurt either. There’s a wide range of surf conditions, plenty of windy onshore thumping beach break, typical to the Drive Thru, but always fun to watch when it’s Taj or Andy making it look epic. But then not so typical of the Drive Thru, we have lots of pumping, glassy, uncrowded days of barrels and a-frames. They definitely score some good surf.
To put it in the words of producer Greg Browning, “As far as the surfing is concerned its hands down the best so far on any Drive Thru. It was an amazing crew of surfers and the perfect country to go to.”
In the downtime, there is plenty of the usual antics, a retro board riding contest, golfing, skydiving, and rugby.
Joel’s secret reef pass for sure. Check out a sneak peak.
Also Occy’s shark sighting. I went through a wide range of emotions, first thought was always, “Oh, that’s fake.” Quickly replaced with a dropped jaw. Ending in laughter. I won’t give it away, it has to be seen to be believed. Just look out for the notorious beach shark.
Anything Occy says.
Anything anyone says making fun of Donavon (which is 90% of all Drive Thru movies).
Shane on a coffee high, “We just drove like an hour, I’m cold and sweaty at the same time, drank some coffee, I’m more amped than Pat O’Connell has ever been in his life at the best day at Creek, and we’re going to surf the shittiest wave on earth, and I don’t care.”
Benji, after ignoring requests to zip up Donavon’s suit, “I’m going to run really quick so people don’t think I’m with these guys.”
Benji Weatherley, Donavon Frankenreiter, Shane Dorian, Pat O’Connell, Andy Irons, Mark Occhilupo, Taj Burrow, Joel Parkinson, Dean Morrison
Sounder, Dear and the Headlights, Sam Champion, El Ten Eleven, Head Like a Kite, Bound Stems, New Faces, Swim Party, Black Box Revelation, Loney,Dear, Her Space Holiday
Rating: 5/5 stars
