Somewhere – Ripcurl – Surf Movie
Ripcurl’s Somewhere is a a surf movie composed of 10 shorts by different directors/editors. Each short has it’s own theme, locations, and musical score, all differing greatly from the others. It is a setup seen before in Taj’s Fairbits but here it has been perfected and pulled off in epic fashion.
Length: 50 minutes
42 North by Jon Frank with a beautiful classical violin track, and Adam Wickwire tearing it up in a cold, cold somewhere… (Iceland). He pulls a huge 360 air wearing as much rubber as can be worn.
Thick, square, dredging, perfect right hander, a mini mirrored version of Teahupoo in what looks like indo.
Thick, square, dredging, perfect right hander “somewhere” in Mexico.
Thick, square, dredging, perfect left hander “somewhere” in Chile.
Figure out the way to my heart yet?
Nathan Hedge’s huge 11 second barrel in indo, filmed from high up across the channel so you can see perfect waves in the background as well, further up the reef.
Great. There is a variety of water, boat, land, and “lifestyle” shots. A lot of work went into each section and I think it will be appreciated by the viewer. And it is all filmed by people who can hold a camera steady.

Music: A good wide mix, everything from rock to classical to electronic. I enjoyed it.
Other notes: There’s a cool snowboarding section, and an impressive section of the girls, with Bethany Hamilton charging.
